Restricted on Roblox?

On Roblox, a restriction can come from three places: a missing age check, a moderation action by Roblox, or a ban set by one game's creator. If chat is off, it is often the age check, which you can fix yourself. If Roblox removed something or limited your account, appeal through the route in the notice. If you live in the EU, Roblox must explain its decision and you can complain for free.
Work out which kind it is
Chat is off, or you only see some games. Roblox requires an age check before you can chat. Without one, younger players are placed in Roblox Kids or Roblox Select with chat off. That is a setting, not a penalty.
You are banned from one game. Error Code 600 or Error Code 267 means that experience's creator banned you. Roblox says it does not issue these bans, its support cannot remove them, and it does not handle appeals about a game's own rules. Ask the creator or the game's community.
Roblox removed or limited something. An item, a place or a whole experience you made was removed, or you got a warning or a timeout. That is Roblox's own decision.
You saw an anti-cheat warning. Roblox shows a message when it notices a modified version of Roblox on a device you recently played on, and warns that continued use may lead to more restrictions.
If it is the age check
Roblox offers two ways: facial age estimation, or an ID if you are 13 or older. Roblox says the face check is done by a provider called Persona, the images are deleted after processing, and Roblox does not receive biometric data.
If the estimate is wrong, Roblox's help pages say you can verify with an ID from 13, or a linked parent can change the birthday once. Do this only in Roblox's own app or site.
Parents: you decide with your child which method to use. With a linked parent account, you can correct a wrong birthday once.
If Roblox removed content or limited your account
- Save the notice and the date. Note the item, place or experience it names.
- Appeal through the route in the notice: Violations and Appeals (roblox.com/report-appeals) or the support form (roblox.com/support). For content, Roblox asks for the Asset ID and a link.
- Explain the context. A creator's asset that looks like something else, a word filtered out of context, a free model you used that contained something you did not see.
- Send it once, as the owner. Roblox reviews each moderation only once and only the owner may appeal.

Your rights in the EU
If you live in the EU, the Digital Services Act covers many of Roblox's own restrictions. Under Art. 17, Roblox must give a clear and specific statement of reasons when it removes content, limits its visibility, or suspends or closes an account. You get a free complaint for at least six months under Art. 20, decided not by automated means alone. A certified out-of-court dispute body can review the decision under Art. 21. Outside the EU, Roblox's appeal is the main route.
These rights do not cover bans set by game creators inside their own experience.
Stay safe
Sites that promise to "fix" chat, skip the age check or restore items for Robux are scams. Never share your password or send ID to anyone outside Roblox. If a restriction grows into a ban, see Roblox account suspended or the Roblox overview.
What you stand to lose
A ban on Roblox takes more than a profile. Think about what is on the account before you decide what to do.
- Years of photos, videos and posts you may not have saved anywhere else
- Messages and contacts, sometimes the only way you reach certain people
- The followers, subscribers or community you built
- Income: sales, sponsorships, payouts and the customers who find you there
- Other apps and sites where you sign in with this account
On Roblox specifically
- Your Robux. Roblox's EEA terms say that if your account is terminated for any reason, all Robux in it become invalid, unless the law requires otherwise.
- Groups you own. Roblox's EEA terms say that if an owner's account is suspended or terminated, Roblox may name a new owner for the group.
Deadlines that are already running
- Roblox's help pages say EU users have 6 months to appeal an initial moderation action. Outside the EU the limit is 30 days.
- Complaint to Roblox: open for at least six months from the day Roblox told you about the decision (DSA Art. 20).
- Copy of your data: free, and Roblox must answer within one month of your request (GDPR Art. 15). It is worth asking now.

Why can I not chat on Roblox?
