Banned on Roblox by mistake?

Updated 21 October 2026

Why acting early matters: Roblox's help pages say EU users have 6 months to appeal an initial moderation action. Outside the EU the limit is 30 days. The longer an account is down, the more followers, customers and conversations move on. See what is at stake

If Roblox banned you for something you did not do, appeal once, carefully, with evidence. Use the route in the notice, send it as the account owner from the account's email, and explain exactly what went wrong: a hacker, a sibling on your device, a report wave, or an age check error. If you live in the EU, Roblox must give reasons, a person must look at your complaint, and you can go further if the answer is no.

Common mistakes behind Roblox bans

A hacked account. Someone got your password, often through a fake "free Robux" site or a trade scam, and used your account to post, scam or cheat. Then the account was banned for what they did.

A shared device. Roblox's anti-cheat message talks about a modified version of Roblox used on a device you recently played on. If a friend or sibling installed a cheat on the family computer, your account can be caught.

Report waves. After an argument in a game, a group may report you again and again. Reports start a review, and any review can go wrong.

Automated errors. A filtered word out of context, a model or asset you did not make, a name that looks like something else.

Age check problems. A face estimate put you in the wrong age group. Roblox's help pages say you can fix this with an ID if you are 13 or older, or a linked parent can change the birthday once.

Build your evidence

Before you write, gather:

  1. The notice, with the date and the rule it names.
  2. A timeline. When you last played normally, when anything strange happened, when you noticed.
  3. Proof of a hack, if there was one: emails about password or email changes, login alerts, messages from the person who tricked you.
  4. Who used the device, and what you removed or changed since.
  5. Your history. How long you have played, and that you have no earlier warnings, if true.
  6. Your data. If you can log in, "Request Account Data" in Settings, under Privacy, gives you Roblox's own records. If you live in the EU, GDPR Art. 15 gives you a free copy within one month.

Write the appeal

Send it through the route in the notice: Violations and Appeals (roblox.com/report-appeals) or the support form (roblox.com/support). Roblox says only the owner may appeal and each moderation is reviewed only once, so put everything in this one message. Keep it calm and short. Say what happened, what you did not do, and what evidence you have. Don't blame Roblox or the people who reported you.

Parents: help your child write it in their own words, and add a short line confirming the facts you know, such as who uses the device. If you are under 18, ask a parent or guardian to help. To buy our letters you must be 18 or older, or have a parent's or guardian's consent.

If you live in the EU

The Digital Services Act gives you a statement of reasons (Art. 17), a free complaint for at least six months that must not be decided by automated means alone (Art. 20), and a certified out-of-court dispute body (Art. 21). A mistaken decision must be reversed without undue delay. See Roblox appeal denied if the answer is no. Outside the EU, Roblox's appeal within 30 days is the main route.

Lock the door

Change the password and secure the email linked to the account. Turn on two-step verification if you can. Never type your password into a site that promises Robux or an unban, and never give it to someone claiming to be Roblox staff. Don't open a new account in the meantime: most platforms treat that as evading the ban. More on the Roblox overview or Roblox account deleted or disabled.

What you stand to lose

A ban on Roblox takes more than a profile. Think about what is on the account before you decide what to do.

  • Years of photos, videos and posts you may not have saved anywhere else
  • Messages and contacts, sometimes the only way you reach certain people
  • The followers, subscribers or community you built
  • Income: sales, sponsorships, payouts and the customers who find you there
  • Other apps and sites where you sign in with this account

On Roblox specifically

  • Your Robux. Roblox's EEA terms say that if your account is terminated for any reason, all Robux in it become invalid, unless the law requires otherwise.
  • Groups you own. Roblox's EEA terms say that if an owner's account is suspended or terminated, Roblox may name a new owner for the group.

Deadlines that are already running

  • Roblox's help pages say EU users have 6 months to appeal an initial moderation action. Outside the EU the limit is 30 days.
  • Complaint to Roblox: open for at least six months from the day Roblox told you about the decision (DSA Art. 20).
  • Copy of your data: free, and Roblox must answer within one month of your request (GDPR Art. 15). It is worth asking now.

Questions people ask

My Roblox account was hacked and then banned. What do I do?

Secure the email linked to the account first, then appeal through the route in the notice. Explain when you lost control and what you did not post or trade. Dates and any login alert emails make the strongest case.

My brother used my device and I got banned on Roblox. Can I appeal?

Yes, explain it honestly in the appeal. Roblox's anti-cheat message talks about a device you recently played on, so a shared device matters. Say who used it, when, and what you have changed since.

Can mass reports get you banned on Roblox?

Reports start a review, and any review can go wrong. If you think a group reported you to get you banned, say so in your appeal and attach what shows it, such as screenshots of the threats or the dispute.

How do I prove I am the owner of a Roblox account?

Roblox says appeals must come from a valid email address for the account. Use that email, and add details only the owner would know, such as when you created the account or items you bought.
