About Banned Socials

Banned Socials helps people in the EU whose social media account was banned, suspended or restricted. We explain your rights in plain words, show your deadlines for free, and sell ready-to-send letters built from your own answers. You stay in control: you send everything yourself.

Who runs it

Banned Socials is run by Søren Elbek in Helsinki, Finland. It is a service of the sole trader business Elbek, business ID 3570992-5. You can write to us at [email protected]. The full company details are in the imprint.

Why it exists

When a platform shuts an account, most people get a short notice and an appeal button. Many hear nothing back. Since 2024 the EU Digital Services Act gives every user in the EU real tools: a statement of reasons, a free complaint that a person has to look at, and independent dispute bodies. Few people know about them, and fewer know how to use them in the right order. Banned Socials puts those tools in your hands.

How we write and check our pages

• Every legal statement on this site comes from the law itself on EUR-Lex: the Digital Services Act, the GDPR and the P2B Regulation.
• Platform facts, such as notice wording, menu paths and appeal windows, are checked against the platform's own help pages. Where a page relies on a source, we link it at the end of the page.
• Dispute bodies are checked against the European Commission's list of certified bodies.
• We note the date each page was last updated. When a platform changes its process, we update the page.
• We never publish success rates or promises. Nobody can honestly promise to get an account back.

What we never do

• We never ask for your password and never log into your account.
• We never contact a platform for you or pretend to be the platform.
• We don't give legal advice on your individual case and we are not a law firm. If you need advice on your own case, for example because your business depends on the account or the police are involved, talk to a lawyer.
• We don't use tracking or advertising cookies. The free check runs on your device.
