Bumble account suspended?
Updated 21 October 2026
A Bumble suspension means Bumble has locked your account, for a set time, until you verify something, or until it decides. Read the notice: it should say why and what you can do. If Bumble asks you to verify, do that first. If you think the suspension is wrong, appeal through the form in the notice. Bumble says you have six months, and if you live in the EU, the Digital Services Act backs that up.
Three kinds of lock
Bumble's terms let it suspend an account as well as close it. In practice you will usually see one of these:
- A verification request. Bumble's terms say it may suspend your account or ask you to verify it if it has reason to believe you may be underage. Completing the check in the app may be your way back in.
- A suspension after a report or a breach. Someone you matched with reported you, or a photo or message broke a rule. Bumble reviews and decides.
- A lock because of a second account. Bumble's terms say it may suspend or close accounts where someone has more than one.
We found no list on Bumble's official pages of how long suspensions last. Your notice is the only source for your case.
If Bumble asks you to verify
Do it in the official app, as soon as you can, and only there. Ignore links from strangers and any website that wants your password or login code.
- Use a clear, recent photo of yourself if one is asked for.
- If it fails, try once more in good light, then appeal and explain.
- Keep a note of the date and what you sent.
If you are being asked about your age and you are an adult, say so plainly in your appeal. Bumble is for adults only. If you are under 18, you should not be on Bumble, and an appeal will not change that.
If the suspension came after a report
Write down what you remember about the match: the profile name, when you chatted, whether you met, and what was said. Save any screenshots you have on your phone. Bumble's guidelines say conduct off the app can count, so a report about a date can lead to a lock even if your chats were polite.
Then appeal. Keep it short: what happened, why you did not break the rule, and what evidence you have. Don't guess who reported you, and don't contact them.
Your rights in the EU
If you live in the EU, Bumble must give you a clear statement of reasons under DSA Art. 17. That includes the facts, the rule, whether automated tools were used, and how to challenge the decision. A suspension is covered just like a full ban. Your complaint is free, open for at least six months, and must not be decided by automated means alone (DSA Art. 20).
If the appeal fails, you can go to a certified dispute body (DSA Art. 21). See Bumble appeal denied. Outside the EU, Bumble's own appeal is your main route.
Check your subscription
If you pay for Premium or Boost through the app store, the renewal may keep running while you are locked out. Bumble's terms say there are no refunds for renewals and that blocked members are not entitled to refunds. Decide whether to stop the renewal, and note what you paid.
While you wait
Don't open a new profile or use a VPN. Bumble's guidelines treat both as getting around a restriction. Ignore anyone online who offers to lift the lock for money. For timing, read how long a Bumble ban lasts, and for the rest, the Bumble overview.
What you stand to lose
A ban on Bumble takes more than a profile. Think about what is on the account before you decide what to do.
- Years of photos, videos and posts you may not have saved anywhere else
- Messages and contacts, sometimes the only way you reach certain people
- The followers, subscribers or community you built
- Income: sales, sponsorships, payouts and the customers who find you there
- Other apps and sites where you sign in with this account
On Bumble specifically
- Bumble's privacy policy says it keeps information on blocking decisions for six years from the date the account was blocked. It may keep details of some blocked members for up to 15 years to stop them from joining again.
- Your subscription. Bumble's terms say blocked members are not entitled to refunds.
- Unused virtual items. Bumble's terms say you get no money or other compensation for unused virtual items when an account is closed, whether you closed it or Bumble did.
- Your matches and chats. Bumble's help pages say that when Bumble blocks a member, that member's profile and chat history are removed from their matches.
- Other apps. Bumble's terms say a ban can cover some or all Bumble Inc. apps, and its privacy policy says a block may also block your accounts on other apps such as Badoo.
Deadlines that are already running
- Bumble's terms and help pages say you can appeal a decision on your account within six months. The best way is the appeals form linked in the notice you got in the app.
- Complaint to Bumble: open for at least six months from the day Bumble told you about the decision (DSA Art. 20).
- Copy of your data: free, and Bumble must answer within one month of your request (GDPR Art. 15). It is worth asking now.
Questions people ask
Why did Bumble ask me to verify my account?
Bumble's terms say it may terminate, suspend or ask you to verify your account if it has reason to believe you may be underage. A verification request can also follow a report or a profile that looks unusual. Follow the steps in the app and keep a note of what you sent.
Is a Bumble suspension temporary?
Not always. Bumble's terms let it suspend or close accounts, but we found no list of suspension lengths on Bumble's official pages. Your notice is the only source for your case. If it names no end date, treat it as open and appeal if you disagree.
Does my Bumble subscription keep running while I'm suspended?
A renewal through the app store may keep running. Bumble's terms say there are no refunds for renewals and blocked members are not entitled to refunds. Check your subscription settings in the app store.
Can I message my matches while suspended?
Usually not, since you can't use the app. Don't ask friends to pass on messages or open a second profile. Bumble's guidelines treat new accounts made to get around a restriction as ban evasion.
