Banned on Bumble for promotion or networking?

Updated 21 October 2026

Why acting early matters: Bumble's terms and help pages say you can appeal a decision on your account within six months. The best way is the appeals form linked in the notice you got in the app. The longer an account is down, the more followers, customers and conversations move on. See what is at stake

Bumble has no business accounts any more: its help pages say Bumble Bizz is no longer available. If you were banned because something on your profile or in your chats looked commercial, you are treated like any other member. If you live in the EU, the Digital Services Act gives you a statement of reasons, a free appeal for six months and a dispute body. The P2B rules for business users are unlikely to help on Bumble.

Who this page is for

Most people on Bumble are there to date or make friends, as private people. This page is for the smaller group who also used it for work, for example:

Then Bumble blocked you for "promotion", "spam" or "commercial use".

What Bumble allows

Bumble's community guidelines are clear: Bumble is not a marketplace, and it does not allow unsolicited commercial or promotional use. That covers more than you might think. A link in your bio, a sales pitch in a first message or an invite to a paid event can all count.

If your profile did any of this, an honest appeal works better than denial. Say what was there, say you have removed it or would remove it, and ask for the account back as a private member.

If you did nothing commercial, say so plainly. A job title or a mention of your work is not promotion.

What the P2B Regulation does and doesn't cover

The P2B Regulation (EU) 2019/1150 protects business users of online intermediation services. It gives them a statement of reasons when restricted or suspended, and at least 30 days' notice before termination, with exceptions.

On Bumble, it may help only in a narrow case: if you used Bumble as a business to offer goods or services to consumers, and Bumble provided that service to you. Since Bizz ended and the guidelines forbid commercial use, that is hard to argue for most people. Don't build your appeal on P2B alone.

The rights that do apply

If you live in the EU, the DSA applies to you whether you used Bumble privately or for work:

  1. Statement of reasons (Art. 17). The facts, the rule, whether automated tools were used, and how to challenge it.
  2. Free internal complaint (Art. 20). At least six months, not by automated means alone. Bumble says you can appeal within six months.
  3. Certified dispute body (Art. 21). Some certified bodies list Bumble on their own sites. Use the dispute body finder.
  4. Your data (GDPR Art. 15). Free, within one month.
  5. Court. That right stays.

Outside the EU, Bumble's own appeal is the main route.

Keep a loss log

We found no payouts for members on Bumble, so the loss is usually indirect: contacts, clients or event guests you can no longer reach. Write it down now:

A loss log does not prove a claim on its own. It does show a dispute body or court what was at stake.

Move your contacts elsewhere

Bumble's help pages say a blocked member's chats are removed from their matches. If you had business contacts there, reach them through other channels you already have. Don't open a second profile to do it: Bumble's guidelines treat that as getting around the ban.

If you think the ban was an error, read banned by mistake on Bumble, or start with Bumble account blocked or disabled. The Bumble overview has the rest.

What you stand to lose

A ban on Bumble takes more than a profile. Think about what is on the account before you decide what to do.

  • Years of photos, videos and posts you may not have saved anywhere else
  • Messages and contacts, sometimes the only way you reach certain people
  • The followers, subscribers or community you built
  • Income: sales, sponsorships, payouts and the customers who find you there
  • Other apps and sites where you sign in with this account

On Bumble specifically

  • Bumble's privacy policy says it keeps information on blocking decisions for six years from the date the account was blocked. It may keep details of some blocked members for up to 15 years to stop them from joining again.
  • Your subscription. Bumble's terms say blocked members are not entitled to refunds.
  • Unused virtual items. Bumble's terms say you get no money or other compensation for unused virtual items when an account is closed, whether you closed it or Bumble did.
  • Your matches and chats. Bumble's help pages say that when Bumble blocks a member, that member's profile and chat history are removed from their matches.
  • Other apps. Bumble's terms say a ban can cover some or all Bumble Inc. apps, and its privacy policy says a block may also block your accounts on other apps such as Badoo.

Deadlines that are already running

  • Bumble's terms and help pages say you can appeal a decision on your account within six months. The best way is the appeals form linked in the notice you got in the app.
  • Complaint to Bumble: open for at least six months from the day Bumble told you about the decision (DSA Art. 20).
  • Copy of your data: free, and Bumble must answer within one month of your request (GDPR Art. 15). It is worth asking now.

Questions people ask

Does Bumble still have Bumble Bizz?

No. Bumble's help pages say Bumble Bizz is no longer available and that Bizz Mode can no longer be activated. There is no separate business profile on Bumble now.

Can I promote my business on Bumble?

Bumble's community guidelines say it is not a marketplace and does not allow unsolicited commercial or promotional use. Links to a shop, a paid page or a sales pitch in chats can lead to removal or a ban.

Does the P2B Regulation protect me on Bumble?

Probably not for most people. It protects business users of online intermediation services, and Bumble does not offer a business service now. If you used Bumble as an ordinary member, your rights come from the DSA and GDPR, which apply to everyone in the EU.

Can I claim lost income from a Bumble ban?

We found no payouts for members on Bumble, so lost income usually means clients or contacts you met there. Keep a written loss log anyway. It shows what the ban cost you if you take it to a dispute body or court.
