Permanently banned from Bumble?

Updated 21 October 2026

Why acting early matters: Bumble's terms and help pages say you can appeal a decision on your account within six months. The best way is the appeals form linked in the notice you got in the app. The longer an account is down, the more followers, customers and conversations move on. See what is at stake

A "permanent" Bumble ban means Bumble does not plan to let you back. It is still a decision, and if you live in the EU you can challenge it: appeal within six months, then take it to a certified dispute body if Bumble says no. Save the notice, check which apps are affected, and don't open a new account.

What "permanent" means on Bumble

Bumble's community guidelines say it can ban a member from some or all of its apps. Its terms let it close any account at its sole discretion, including by blocking specific IP addresses. Its privacy policy says a block may also block your accounts on other apps, such as Badoo.

So a permanent ban can reach further than one profile. Check:

What "permanent" means legally

In the EU, "permanent" is not the last word. Under the DSA:

A permanent ban without a real reason is a weak decision. That is where your appeal starts.

What Bumble keeps

Bumble's privacy policy says it keeps information on blocking decisions for six years from the date of the block. It may keep details of some blocked members for up to 15 years, depending on how serious the harm was, to stop them from rejoining. If you ask Bumble to delete your data, it will keep what it needs to enforce the block.

You can still ask for a free copy of your data under GDPR Art. 15. Ask for the reports and notes behind the ban, too. Write to [email protected] if you can't use the chat.

What you lose

Stop any running subscription renewal in your app store. List what you paid, with dates, for your appeal.

How to build your case

  1. Write down what you think led to the ban. Be honest with yourself.
  2. Collect screenshots of chats, profile photos and the notice.
  3. If a match reported you after a date, note the facts: where, when, what happened.
  4. Appeal through the form in the notice, or Bumble's support request form if you can't reach it.
  5. If Bumble says no, go to a dispute body. See Bumble appeal denied.

Outside the EU

These rights protect people who live in the EU. Not Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein or the UK. Outside the EU, Bumble's own appeal is your main route.

Avoid these traps

Don't create a new account or use a VPN: Bumble's guidelines treat both as getting around the ban. Don't pay "unban" services, and never share your login code. If someone else used your profile, read banned by mistake on Bumble. More on the Bumble overview.

What you stand to lose

A ban on Bumble takes more than a profile. Think about what is on the account before you decide what to do.

  • Years of photos, videos and posts you may not have saved anywhere else
  • Messages and contacts, sometimes the only way you reach certain people
  • The followers, subscribers or community you built
  • Income: sales, sponsorships, payouts and the customers who find you there
  • Other apps and sites where you sign in with this account

On Bumble specifically

  • Bumble's privacy policy says it keeps information on blocking decisions for six years from the date the account was blocked. It may keep details of some blocked members for up to 15 years to stop them from joining again.
  • Your subscription. Bumble's terms say blocked members are not entitled to refunds.
  • Unused virtual items. Bumble's terms say you get no money or other compensation for unused virtual items when an account is closed, whether you closed it or Bumble did.
  • Your matches and chats. Bumble's help pages say that when Bumble blocks a member, that member's profile and chat history are removed from their matches.
  • Other apps. Bumble's terms say a ban can cover some or all Bumble Inc. apps, and its privacy policy says a block may also block your accounts on other apps such as Badoo.

Deadlines that are already running

  • Bumble's terms and help pages say you can appeal a decision on your account within six months. The best way is the appeals form linked in the notice you got in the app.
  • Complaint to Bumble: open for at least six months from the day Bumble told you about the decision (DSA Art. 20).
  • Copy of your data: free, and Bumble must answer within one month of your request (GDPR Art. 15). It is worth asking now.

Questions people ask

Can a permanent Bumble ban be reversed?

A permanent ban is a decision, and decisions can be challenged. If you live in the EU, you can appeal within six months and then go to a certified dispute body. Nobody can promise the result, but the routes are open.

Can I make a new Bumble account after a ban?

No. Bumble's guidelines say you may not create new accounts or use a VPN to get around a ban. Its terms also allow blocking specific IP addresses. A new account can be closed and can count against you.

Am I banned from Badoo too?

Possibly. Bumble's guidelines say a ban can cover some or all of its apps, and its privacy policy names Badoo as an app where a block may follow. Check each app and include them all in your appeal.

Will Bumble delete my data after a permanent ban?

Not all of it. Bumble's privacy policy says it keeps information on blocking decisions for six years and may keep details of some blocked members for up to 15 years. You can ask for a copy under GDPR Art. 15.
