How long does a Bumble ban last?

Updated 21 October 2026

Why acting early matters: Bumble's terms and help pages say you can appeal a decision on your account within six months. The best way is the appeals form linked in the notice you got in the app. The longer an account is down, the more followers, customers and conversations move on. See what is at stake

We found nothing on Bumble's official pages about how long its bans last or how long an appeal review takes. If your notice gives no end date, the block stays until Bumble changes its mind. What is fixed are the legal time limits: you have six months to appeal, a certified dispute body decides within 90 days, and a data request must be answered within one month. These apply if you live in the EU.

How long the block lasts

Bumble's community guidelines describe removing content, warning, and banning a member from some or all of its apps. Bumble's terms also allow suspensions. But there is no public list of lengths.

How long the appeal takes

Bumble gives no review time. If you live in the EU, DSA Art. 20 says complaints must be handled in a timely, diligent and non-arbitrary way, and not by automated means alone. If the decision was wrong, Bumble must reverse it without undue delay. The law gives no fixed number of days for this step.

What you can do while you wait:

You don't have to wait for Bumble's answer before going to a dispute body. Under DSA Art. 21 you can go straight there.

The deadlines that are real

  1. Six months to appeal. Bumble's terms and its DSA page say you can appeal within six months. The DSA gives at least six months for a free internal complaint. Count from the day of the decision.
  2. 90 days at a dispute body. A certified body decides within 90 days of receiving your complete complaint.
  3. One month for your data. Under GDPR Art. 15, Bumble must answer within one month. It can extend by up to two more months for complex requests if it tells you why. Bumble's help page says it aims to send data within one calendar month.

The deadline calculator works out the exact dates.

How long Bumble keeps your data

Bumble's privacy policy says it keeps information on blocking decisions for six years from the date of the block. It may keep details of some blocked members for up to 15 years, depending on how serious the harm was, to stop them from joining again. Its help pages say a blocked profile keeps some basic data so the block can be enforced.

So a new account is not a way out. It breaks Bumble's rules on getting around a ban, and Bumble keeps the details to spot it.

Not the same as deleting

If you deleted your own account, Bumble's help pages give you 28 days to restore it. That rule is for your own deletion, not for a ban.

Outside the EU

These deadlines protect people who live in the EU. Not Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein or the UK. Elsewhere, Bumble's own appeal process and timing apply.

If Bumble already said no, read Bumble appeal denied. For an overview, go to the Bumble page.

What you stand to lose

A ban on Bumble takes more than a profile. Think about what is on the account before you decide what to do.

  • Years of photos, videos and posts you may not have saved anywhere else
  • Messages and contacts, sometimes the only way you reach certain people
  • The followers, subscribers or community you built
  • Income: sales, sponsorships, payouts and the customers who find you there
  • Other apps and sites where you sign in with this account

On Bumble specifically

  • Bumble's privacy policy says it keeps information on blocking decisions for six years from the date the account was blocked. It may keep details of some blocked members for up to 15 years to stop them from joining again.
  • Your subscription. Bumble's terms say blocked members are not entitled to refunds.
  • Unused virtual items. Bumble's terms say you get no money or other compensation for unused virtual items when an account is closed, whether you closed it or Bumble did.
  • Your matches and chats. Bumble's help pages say that when Bumble blocks a member, that member's profile and chat history are removed from their matches.
  • Other apps. Bumble's terms say a ban can cover some or all Bumble Inc. apps, and its privacy policy says a block may also block your accounts on other apps such as Badoo.

Deadlines that are already running

  • Bumble's terms and help pages say you can appeal a decision on your account within six months. The best way is the appeals form linked in the notice you got in the app.
  • Complaint to Bumble: open for at least six months from the day Bumble told you about the decision (DSA Art. 20).
  • Copy of your data: free, and Bumble must answer within one month of your request (GDPR Art. 15). It is worth asking now.
