Twitch appeal denied?

Updated 21 October 2026

Why acting early matters: Twitch's help pages say you can appeal enforcements issued within the last six months, or your most recent one if you are serving an indefinite suspension. Appeals go only through appeals.twitch.tv. The longer an account is down, the more followers, customers and conversations move on. See what is at stake

A denied Twitch appeal ends Twitch's internal process, but if you live in the EU you still have options. You can take the decision to a certified out-of-court dispute settlement body: none lists Twitch by name yet, but general bodies may take the case. You can also demand a proper statement of reasons, request your data under the GDPR, and go to court.

Check what Twitch actually told you

Lay out the original enforcement email and the appeal answer together. Ask:

If you live in the EU, the Digital Services Act requires a clear and specific statement of reasons (Art. 17), and complaints must not be decided by automated means alone (Art. 20). A copy and paste rejection that does not engage with your points is worth noting.

Option 1: a dispute settlement body

Under DSA Art. 21, you can take Twitch's decision to a certified out-of-court dispute settlement body.

Option 2: your data

Under GDPR Art. 15, ask Twitch for a free copy of your personal data. Twitch must answer within one month, or up to two more months for complex requests if it says why. This can show the records linked to your account and gives you a copy of your history if you lose access for good.

Option 3: business user rights

If you stream as a business, the P2B Regulation may give you extra rights, such as a statement of reasons and notice before termination. Whether it applies depends on the facts. See Twitch business accounts.

Option 4: court

You can always go to court. For most people that is the last step, after the others. Get proper legal advice first.

Prepare one clean case file

  1. The enforcement email, the appeal you sent, and the rejection, with dates.
  2. The content involved: VOD, clip, or a written description with timestamps.
  3. Your explanation of why it did not break the named rule.
  4. Context: what was happening on stream, who said what in chat, what your moderators saw.
  5. For streamers: a dated log of lost income.

Things to avoid now

Don't start streaming from a new channel. Twitch treats that as ban evasion, and it weakens your position in any outside review. Ignore people who say they can get Twitch to "review it again" for a fee. Outside the EU, these legal options do not apply in the same way, and Twitch's process is the main route. If the action was a hack or false reports, see banned by mistake on Twitch.

What you stand to lose

A ban on Twitch takes more than a profile. Think about what is on the account before you decide what to do.

  • Years of photos, videos and posts you may not have saved anywhere else
  • Messages and contacts, sometimes the only way you reach certain people
  • The followers, subscribers or community you built
  • Income: sales, sponsorships, payouts and the customers who find you there
  • Other apps and sites where you sign in with this account

On Twitch specifically

  • Bits and subscriptions you bought. Twitch's help pages say that during an indefinite suspension you can't use items you bought, such as Bits and subscriptions, and recurring subscriptions don't renew.
  • Your subscribers and monetization. Twitch's help pages say a monetized streamer can't use monetization tools during an indefinite suspension, and existing subscriptions to the channel don't renew.

Deadlines that are already running

  • Twitch's help pages say you can appeal enforcements issued within the last six months, or your most recent one if you are serving an indefinite suspension. Appeals go only through appeals.twitch.tv.
  • Complaint to Twitch: open for at least six months from the day Twitch told you about the decision (DSA Art. 20).
  • Copy of your data: free, and Twitch must answer within one month of your request (GDPR Art. 15). It is worth asking now.

Questions people ask

Can I appeal a Twitch suspension twice?

Twitch's help pages allow one appeal per suspension of 30 days or less, and one appeal every six months for an indefinite suspension. If you live in the EU, the next step is usually to take the decision outside Twitch, to a certified dispute settlement body.

Is there a dispute body that handles Twitch?

No certified body lists Twitch by name yet. General certified bodies may still accept a Twitch case, so ask them directly or use the dispute body finder.

Can a lawyer help after a denied Twitch appeal?

Your right to go to court stays open, and a lawyer can advise on that. For creators with real income at stake it can be worth a consultation. We are not lawyers.

What if Twitch never explained the reason?

If you live in the EU, Twitch must give a clear and specific statement of reasons. Point out in writing that you did not receive one, and use that gap in any further complaint.
