Tinder account disabled?
Updated 21 October 2026
If your Tinder profile is gone and you can't log in, check your email for a message from Tinder. Tinder's help pages say a banned user gets an email and sees a notification when trying to log in. If that is what you see, appeal in the Appeals Center at tinder.com/appeals-center within 6 months. Cancel any app store subscription today, because a ban does not stop the billing.
First check what happened
Not every lockout is a ban.
- A login problem. If you can't get in but got no email from Tinder about a ban, it may be a login issue. Use Tinder's help centre.
- You deleted the account. Deleting your own account is not a moderation action.
- A suspension. Tinder's notice says if the block is temporary. See Tinder account suspended.
- A ban. You got an email, you see a notice at login, and your profile is gone. That is what this page is about.
Save what you can
Before you write anything, collect:
- The ban email and a screenshot of the login notice, with the date.
- What the notice names. A rule, a photo, a message, a report? Write it down.
- Your purchases. Receipts for Tinder Plus, Gold, Platinum, Super Likes or Boosts.
- Your data. Tinder's help pages say banned users can still request a copy with the Download My Data tool at account.gotinder.com/data. The link comes by email.
Tinder is about people. If you were in the middle of talking to someone, you can't reach them in the app now. Tinder's pages don't say what happens to matches and chats after a ban, so don't count on getting them back.
How to appeal
- Open the Appeals Center at tinder.com/appeals-center and log in with the same details you use for Tinder.
- Pick the violation on the list, then choose "Begin appeal".
- Write a short, calm statement. What you think the notice refers to, why it did not break the rules, and any context: a joke a match misread, a photo that was yours, someone else using your phone.
- Submit the appeal and keep a screenshot. The status shows "In Review", then "Approved" or "Denied".
Tinder's help pages say you can't appeal an action twice, so write it once and well.
Stop paying for a profile you can't use
Tinder's terms say you get no refund for purchases if Tinder terminates the account. If you subscribed through the App Store or Google Play, cancel there yourself. In the EU you can get a full refund in the first 14 days after a subscription begins. Unused Super Likes and Boosts are not paid back, according to the terms.
Your rights in the EU
If you live in the EU, Tinder must give you a clear statement of reasons under DSA Art. 17. Your complaint is free, stays open for at least six months, and must not be decided by automated means alone. If the appeal fails, you can go to a certified dispute body. Platform Control names Tinder on the European Commission's list. See Tinder appeal denied for the next steps.
You can also ask for a free copy of your data under GDPR Art. 15, answered within one month. Outside the EU, the Appeals Center is your main route.
Watch for scams
Nobody can "recover" a banned Tinder account for money. Never give your login or a text code to anyone. Don't open a new profile: Tinder's help pages say a ban also covers new accounts. If you think a match reported you unfairly, read banned on Tinder by mistake. The Tinder overview has the full picture.
What you stand to lose
A ban on Tinder takes more than a profile. Think about what is on the account before you decide what to do.
- Years of photos, videos and posts you may not have saved anywhere else
- Messages and contacts, sometimes the only way you reach certain people
- The followers, subscribers or community you built
- Income: sales, sponsorships, payouts and the customers who find you there
- Other apps and sites where you sign in with this account
On Tinder specifically
- Tinder's privacy policy says it keeps your data for one year after a ban to investigate unlawful or harmful conduct. After that it deletes it, except data it must or may keep for longer, such as transaction data.
- Your subscription. Tinder's terms say you get no refund for purchases if the account is terminated for any reason. In the EU you can get a full refund in the first 14 days of a subscription.
- Billing that keeps running. Tinder's help pages say that if you subscribed on an iPhone or Android device, you have to cancel the subscription yourself after a ban.
- Unused Super Likes, Boosts and other virtual items. Tinder's terms say you get no money or other compensation for them when an account is closed, voluntarily or not.
- Other dating apps. Tinder's terms say a ban can also cover other Match Group apps, such as Hinge, OkCupid, Plenty of Fish and Meetic.
Deadlines that are already running
- Tinder's help pages say a violation can no longer be appealed in the Appeals Center once the action is more than 6 months old, or once you have already appealed it.
- Tinder's help pages say banned and suspended users can still request their personal data with the Download My Data tool.
- Complaint to Tinder: open for at least six months from the day Tinder told you about the decision (DSA Art. 20).
- Copy of your data: free, and Tinder must answer within one month of your request (GDPR Art. 15). It is worth asking now.
Questions people ask
Why was my Tinder account disabled without warning?
Tinder's terms let it suspend or ban an account without prior notice. Warnings come first for less serious issues, but serious ones can lead straight to a ban. If you live in the EU, Tinder must still give you a statement of reasons.
Will my matches see that I was banned?
Tinder's help pages say the profile of a banned user is removed from the platform. They don't say what matches see. Assume your chats are out of reach until the ban is lifted.
Do I still get charged after my Tinder account is disabled?
You may. Tinder's help pages say that if you subscribed on an iPhone or Android device, you must cancel the subscription yourself. Do that in your App Store or Google Play settings today.
Can I get my Tinder photos and messages back?
Tinder's help pages say banned users can still request their data with the Download My Data tool. The link is sent by email. If you can't use the tool, use Tinder's privacy request form.
