TikTok says: Your account was permanently banned
Your account was permanently banned due to multiple violations of our Community Guidelines.
"Your account was permanently banned due to multiple violations of our Community Guidelines" means TikTok has closed your account after counting several rule breaks against it. Permanent is TikTok's word, not the last word. Appeal through the option in the notice, screenshot everything, and if you live in the EU, use your free complaint and dispute rights.
What this message means
TikTok uses a system of violations and strikes. When an account collects enough of them, or one is very serious, TikTok bans it. The phrase "multiple violations" means TikTok counted earlier removals or warnings, not just the last video. Your profile is no longer visible and you cannot post.
What it does not mean
- It does not mean each violation was correct. Earlier removals may have been wrong too.
- It does not mean the decision cannot be reviewed.
- It does not mean your videos and data are lost for good.
What to do now
- Screenshot the ban screen, the date and your username.
- Tap "Appeal" or the similar option and submit it. Explain briefly why the ban is wrong.
- Look at the earlier violation notices in your inbox under System notifications. Note each video and date, and which ones you disagree with.
- Download your data. TikTok says a banned account can still log in to do this.
- Collect proof: screenshots of the removed videos if you have them, and any earlier appeals you won.
- Do not make a new account. TikTok treats that as getting around the ban.

The EU route
If you live in the EU, the Digital Services Act (DSA) gives you real options here:
- Statement of reasons. TikTok must explain the facts, the rule, whether automated tools were used, and how to challenge the decision. "Multiple violations" alone is not very specific.
- Free internal complaint for at least six months after the ban. It may not be decided by automated means alone. If the ban was wrong, TikTok must reverse it without undue delay.
- Certified dispute body. Appeals Centre Europe and User Rights list TikTok. You can go there without the internal complaint first. It costs nothing or a nominal fee, and it decides within 90 days of receiving your complaint.
- Your data. The GDPR gives you a free copy within one month.
- Court remains open.
If you earned money on TikTok, the P2B Regulation may also apply. Outside the EU, the in-app appeal is your main route. More on the TikTok page.
Watch out for scams
Creators who lose a big account get offers to "unban" it for a fee. Nobody outside TikTok can do that. Never pay, and never share your password or login codes.
Questions people ask
Can you appeal a permanent TikTok ban?
Yes. Open the ban notification and tap Appeal. If you live in the EU, you can also file a free complaint for at least six months and take the case to a certified dispute body.
Which violations led to my TikTok ban?
Earlier violation notices sit in your inbox under System notifications, Account updates. If you live in the EU, TikTok must give a clear statement of reasons with the facts and the rule. If you cannot see them, say so in your complaint.
Does permanent mean nobody can review it again?
No. Permanent is how TikTok describes its own decision. In the EU, you still have the internal complaint, an out-of-court dispute body and the courts.
Can I download my TikTok videos after a ban?
TikTok says you can log in to a banned account to appeal and to download your data. If you live in the EU, the GDPR gives you a free copy of your personal data, answered within one month.
