Suspended by Pinterest by mistake?

Updated 21 October 2026

Why acting early matters: Pinterest's help pages say you can appeal a decision on your account within six months, in its Reports and Violations Center. The longer an account is down, the more followers, customers and conversations move on. See what is at stake

If Pinterest suspended your account by mistake, show it with evidence a reviewer can check quickly: security emails proving a hack, a clean explanation of normal pinning habits, or proof your website was hacked and has been fixed. Appeal through the link in the suspension email or the Pinterest Help Center first. If you live in the EU, Pinterest must say whether automated tools were used, and a human must be involved in your complaint.

How to write the appeal

Be brief and concrete. Say what happened, what Pinterest probably saw, and why it was not a breach. Attach only the evidence that matters. Polite and factual works better than angry.

Protect yourself

Change your email password. Disconnect tools you do not recognise. Do not create a new account while the appeal is open. Be wary of anyone who messages you offering to "get Pinterest to reinstate you" for a fee or asks for your login. That is a scam.

Your EU rights when the decision was wrong

If you live in the EU, the Digital Services Act gives you:

Outside the EU, Pinterest's appeal is your main route.

If your Pins or links are limited rather than the account, see Pinterest restricted. For the appeal itself, read Pinterest account suspended.

What you stand to lose

A ban on Pinterest takes more than a profile. Think about what is on the account before you decide what to do.

  • Years of photos, videos and posts you may not have saved anywhere else
  • Messages and contacts, sometimes the only way you reach certain people
  • The followers, subscribers or community you built
  • Income: sales, sponsorships, payouts and the customers who find you there
  • Other apps and sites where you sign in with this account

On Pinterest specifically

  • Pinterest's terms say that after an account is terminated, Pinterest may keep your content for a reasonable time for backup, archive or audit purposes.
  • Coming back. Pinterest's terms say that if your account was suspended, you can't return to Pinterest unless Pinterest agreed otherwise.

Deadlines that are already running

  • Pinterest's help pages say you can appeal a decision on your account within six months, in its Reports and Violations Center.
  • Complaint to Pinterest: open for at least six months from the day Pinterest told you about the decision (DSA Art. 20).
  • Copy of your data: free, and Pinterest must answer within one month of your request (GDPR Art. 15). It is worth asking now.

Questions people ask

Why did Pinterest suspend me for spam when I only pin normally?

Automated spam filters look at patterns, such as many Pins in a short time, the same link pinned repeatedly, or a website that was flagged. Normal users can get caught. Explain how you use Pinterest, and say what was happening around the time of the suspension.

My Pinterest was hacked and then suspended. What should I do?

Secure the email account linked to Pinterest first. If Pinterest locked the account to protect it, its help pages say to reset your password. If that does not work, contact Pinterest through its Help Center and explain which activity was not yours. Emails about password or email changes you did not make are good evidence.

Can a hacked website get my Pinterest account suspended?

It can contribute. If your own website was hacked and started redirecting visitors, Pins linking to it may be treated as spam. Clean the site first, then explain this in your appeal with the date you fixed it.
